Our final animated storyboard

Creative Titles

Renaming CrackerJack

We have made a group decision to rename Crackerjack (the horse) to Tye. We came to this decision as it means 'meadow worker'. The meaning of the name links directly to the horses purpose as gypsies own horses to help them work the fields. The name was also popular with our target audience, which is key.

My next step will be to rename our film into something that is more intriguing than "Saving Crackerjack". The name change of Crackerjack to Tye obviously too calls for a name change of the film.

Renaming our film

Evaluating our storyboard

Thursday 14 March 2013

Hand drawn Storyboard

Our first storyboard is similar to "no country for old men" as it uses simple drawings without colour, yet it describes various different aspects of the opening title sequence, such as the camera, a description of what happens throughout the shot, the score and whether there is any dialogue.

Story-boarding

We have now begun to storyboard, we have decided to create both a hand drawn one and an animated one. We decided that alongside the images, we would need to write when the shot starts, the duration of the shot, a description of what happens (camera), dialogue references and the score.

Developing our logo....

We used the basic software paint to begin to develop our logo, this is how our logo currently looks....We will use a more advanced software such as photoshop to create a more professional looking logo before the editing process, as this will be one of our first opening titles.

Preferred logo...

We created a small survey, however, there was no clear winner, they all had similar amounts of votes. Therefore we Decided to look back at the existing logos we have analysed, and choose the logo we have designed that looks the most professional. We choose Logo five.

-Prezzi
-Slideshare
-Go Animate
-Pixton

Teacher Feedback

Mr Jackson (Media teacher) has told me that...
- I need More creativity in the way i present my work, so to present through different mediums online.

Therefore, i will begin to research various other mediums of presenting work.

Logo reserach

Now we have named our production company, we need to begin to create a logo, this will appear first in our opening title sequence. I will research some existing logos firstly, in order to gain a greater u understanding of how most logos are either presented, and also the colour and imagery used.

Final production company name

It became apparent after questioning our target audience that "Honnor & Honnor" was the most successful, therefore have chosen to name our production company "Honnor & Honnor" We also believe that the repetion of the surname sticks in the audiences head, and "Honnor" is not a common surname, therefore may also stick in our audiences head and hopefully gain our independent film company publicity.

What our audience prefer

Ask the audience!!

Being undecided about choosing the name of our production company, we decided to ask our target audience. We asked 20 people, we hoped that this would not only tell us what our target audience would prefer, but will help us to decide.

Whittling down the name selection

After discussing the list of production name ideas with my team member, we whittled down the names to just 6. These were...
  • Honnor & Honnor Films
  • Honnor & HonnorPictures
  • Honnor Entertainment
  • G and C films
  • G&C Films
  • Honnor & Honnor

Naming our production company

Most independent film companies name themselves after the creator(s) name. Therefore, us being an independent film company have decided to name our company after ourselves. Being sisters, we have the same surname, "Honnor", This ideally should reduce conflict whilst naming our production company. Potential names include:
  • C&G films
  • G&C films
  • Honnor films
  • C&G pictures
  • G&C pictures
  • Honnor pictures
  • C&G entertainment
  • G&C entertainment
  • Honnor entertainment
  • Honnor pictures
  • Honnor entertainment
  • Honnor & Honnor films
  • Honnor & Honnor pictures
  • Honnor & Honnor entertainment
  • Honnor & Honnor
  • G and C films

Existing production companies

I created a short video about existing production companies and the common features in their names.

Naming our Production company

After watching both independent and blockbuster films, we realised that before any other title, they introduced the films production company, whether that be part of a large media conglomerate or an independent film company. Therefore we would need to name our production company before moving on to story-boarding.

Our 25 word pitch

Evaluating our 25 word pitch

Our final 25 word pitch is very short and snappy, it intrigues the audience. Ir creates empathy by naming the boy as 'neglected', this directly appeals to our target audience of families, especially mothers, as they have a natural mothering instinct, to protect and care for children, therefore they will instantly be able to connect with the character Fred- the 'neglected gypsy boy'. The words "adventure" and "change" instantly grasp the audiences attention. The "adventurous" aspect of the film appeals to the younger audience. The word 'forever' makes the film see almost like a fairytale, and appeals to the younger female audience, it complies with the lexical field of 'fantasy' - as often in films aimed at young girls the word 'forever' is used.

The pitch is descriptive and basically outlines the story, without detailing to much, by naming the main part of the film as an 'adventure' this instantly captivates our target audience, and intrigues them to watch the film, and to know what this 'adventure' was, and how this 'adventure' will 'change' their lives 'forever'.

The main characters are named, and their names are not modern, therefore this also gives the audience a rough idea of the time period of the setting of the film.

The word 'they' also discretely suggests the romantic aspect of the film, that both young children work together and somehow become linked.

"That would change their lives" has more of an impact then "what could change their lives", it intrigues the audience further, as it tells you that there IS a dramatic change.
